I had 80 contracts and they were so far out of the money that they didn't move much even when the market went down. (sold to open at 1.25 and bought them back to close today at .4)

NOW IT JUST TAKES PATIENCE

Over the 32 years I have been actively trading the markets I have never seen pessimism as deep and as prevalent as now. I am talking 1972-75 type once in a lifetime ( now 2x) and we are now in need of patience.

Patience is hard at this stage as most have already thrown in the towel or made excuses blaming the government , brokers or newsletter writers. But the market is best at making the most people uncomfortable especially under these circumstances whereas people really don't know what is going on !

We have some good readings to go by but none are 100% but I have all my money riding on the US financial system...this market has thrown out the babies with the bathwater and will soon stabilize enough to round up the Bears and send them packing soon.

We continue to say that 90% long is the way to go here ...buy the panics and hold...it is time to make a stand here into the Fall.

HERES THE PLAN : BAILOUT THEN MANIC MONDAY RALLY
WE WILL GET BACK ALL THIS WEEKS LOSSES IN ONE - TWO DAYS

The Fed / Treasury will bail out FNM FRE and there will be no mid east war and the markets will soar as good earnings pileup ...so now is the worst time to sell. If you stick with buying options 3-6 months out in the money or buying 2x ETF's or eve3n futures in here you will make big profits in the short term ...the markets have never been more geared up to rally since the 1987 Crash so take advantage of it and buy todays close.

The best way to play it for the lowest cost is to buy QLD calls at the money near todays close. Or you can buy the NQ futures or even the dreaded ER2 futures !!!
The fact is the "Smart Money is buying and the "Dumb Money" is getting a temporary break in the rumor driven Bear. Now is the time to SPECULATE.

If you do ...try this one on for size !!! Look at you calendar and mark down on July 4th 2008 the stock market hit it's most pessimistic time in known history...bar the Depression !All of these periods are marked as MARKET BOTTOMS ...how many of you believe that we are now bottoming at 1250 cash SPX ???

Well take a look at the 14 key sentiment and technical indicators I do daily and for the longer term you should have a 100% chance that if you buy IBM or any major stock or index it will be higher in 3-6-9and 12 months out. You surely cannot just go out and spend your retirement on stocks just because TTT says it's OK to buy stocks and I am underinvested so here goes !

Nope..as Trading Goddess says so well ...your Due Diligence is required but here is where I ahve all of mu funds and maybe just maybe 3 months from now we can look back and say ...yep ! That was a bottom !

tomthetrader: Today's reversal helps the bull case somewhat, not just because of the reversal (which is not always a good indicator), but because Banks are ratcheting higher and we're coming off of a tremendous oversold condition.
tomthetrader: I'm not intending to chase the rally, especially as we approach 1280ish on the S&P, but if we can add a bit more to this rally then settle back for a day or two without completely collapsing again, then I'll be looking to add some long exposure for a trade.

DTO WAS THE BEST PLAY FOR OIL DROP
We were looking at many ways to short the oil market and after months of saying 100 no 120 we finally took a stand and bought the DTO newly formed 2x ETF that has been up near 15% the past 5 sessions. When going with the DTO versus many easier more used route we got the unpredictable...and it paid off.

Sometimes the market "tells" include seasonality and with oil this time around it has done it's best to confound all. From a equity point of view you all saw that the XOM and OXY COP XLE were not keeping pace with OIL so this divergance led to the collapse and the big run in DTO.

So now for that Summer Rally that never appeared...we just cannot get enough PANIC in this market. The huge Bear Market rally ( 3rd largest of all time) made us all complacent and just now I am seeing on the ISEE that IWM puts ...the hallmark of a upcoming drop ....is now peaking after most were not buying protection before the big event...get your minds out of the gutter...I am talking about protective puts before a market crash...you guys have been looking at the pictures here again !

Bottom line the A/D stinks ...oil is finally dropping with the CRB but stocks can't make much headway ...is it just another Bear or is it Mama bear as it looks to me like there continues to be a shot at a rally or else another group of TRAPPED BULLS ???

TIME TO REFLECT : BEAR + OIL = TROUBLE

It seems like the oil market will not go down ..no matter how many try to call a top it seems we are destined to $150 and beyond. Food prices and just look at your next utility bill. The consumer is in big trouble and the economy is going to pay. Many so called experts have called for raising rates and a improving economy whle I continue to call for lower rates and recession.

How come I am bullish / I think this bear market will end ...but it may take new leadership in washington and another CRASH. Yes ...we will probably have a Crash as the market is setting up much like 1987. How do you crash proof your portfolio ?
We dodge in and out and when it is time to get short we go all in 2x ETF's and puts and futures short...when there is over pessimistic views we will stick them long.


For now we are 40% long in HCBK and DTO both are like hedges. Just in case we get a botttom in banks HCBK could double and if oil cracks DTO could double ...we will add our other 60% fighting the indices.
