TTT HEDGE GETS FACELIFT EVEN BETTER !!!!

Hello TTTHedge members!

In the beginning of May, Tom and I (RedlionTrader) began talking about combining our talents and resources to make the TTT Hedge Fund service even better. I have been a full-time trader for 7 years now after leaving my engineering career in medical imaging and selling my business. My journey to "learn the markets" has taken me through several services and courses. I have seen some good services and quite a few bad services. Last November I stumbled into TTT Hedge Fund trading room and was instantly sold. I have been around the circuit and I can say that Tom is "the best" live tape reader I have seen or heard. His ability to digest the current market conditions and give great calls was second to none and the cost of his invaluable service was unbelievably low. Tom's 3 portfolio and multi-timframe trading and hedging have really improved my trading and results. I knew that I had found the best bargain ever.

I am an indicator-kind-of-guy, I think it is the "engineer" in me. Tom has introduced me to Dr. Martin Zweig under whom he did research and I have been study and charting and tracking and been sharing the research at my website. During this time I have developed, along with my trading skills, new blogging skills and learned howto leverage the low-cost resources provided on the web to represent live data or near-live data on my site.

Starting officially on June 1st we will re-introduce the current service as TTTHedge.com. The "fund" part of the name will be dropped since we are unable to procure the domain name (a side story). The new name is great since it is smaller and takes less twitter characters! Over the course of the next couple of weeks we are previewing the site and testing out some of the new features. If you want to see what we have done so far checkout: http://ttthedgetest2.blogspot.com. Don't bookmark this address, it will be changing over the new couple of weeks. Go to the Members area and you will see the live portfolio tracking we started on Friday.

When Tom and I started talking it became clear to me that more and more of Tom's time was being taken up with mundane administrative tasks. We need Tom to do research and find trades and less time chasing down pal-talk payments. Part of the re-engineering of the website is to lighten up these task by leveraging the tools provided us, mostly using the Google tool-set. Our goal is to continue the service as the best and maintain the unbelievable low-cost gem that it is, not losing the eyes-on-the-prize of trading and making cash and a good living and a great retirement.

As June rolls around there will be more updates of the launch. This current email is to solicit you to fill out a membership form so we can begin compiling our membership database. Matching real names to email names to paltalk names is one of those mundane and time consuming tasks that can easily be streamlined. Next week the members only area of the new website will be secured for members only, so we need to get the database up and running.

If you get locked out somehow, please let me now right away. In the next two weeks there is a lot of work to do and a lot of mistakes to make. I really appreciate all the feedback I have so far. Keep it coming. Your patience and support as we turn a corner here is greatly appreciated. We have a great trading community, I learn something new from the membership everyday and when we are re-launched we will be able to extend that sharing from the live trading room to the website.

thanks again for you help:

(2:48 PM) JR Roden: If the SPX closes under 893, then I recommend shutting down all long trading positions. If the SPX drops too far under this 893 level intraday, then go ahead and close them out during the day, as ideally we want to see a fairly quick "slingshot" recovery off another trip down to this 896 area. If this slingshot doesn't happen, it's not a good sign.

TTT DECLARES BULL MARKET BUT LOOKS TO SHORT TERM TO ADD AFTER DROP

With the S&P 500 up a hair under +30% since the March 9th low (+29.7% to be exact), it is worth noting that interest in the goings on in the stock market is on the rise. My guess is that the average investor is still mourning the massive hit they took in their 401(k) plans, however those that are paying attention are starting to ask some questions.

In speaking with several different types of investors this week, it became obvious that some of the terms we use to define the environment may be more than a little contradictory. For example, unless you spend your days dealing with the machinations at the corner of Broad and Wall, it makes sense that terms such as "mini bull," "secular bear," and "correction," "pullback," or "pause that refreshes" wouldn't be used in the same sentence.

So this weekend, we thought we'd take a moment to spell out our view on what we see happening in the market these days.

For starters, get out your sharpie and color in a big smiley face on April 28th. The common definition for a BULL market includes two variables: percentage gain and elapsed time. According to our favorite keeper of statistics - Ned Davis Research - a bull market is defined as a gain of 30% or more after 50 calendar days. The good news is that Tuesday was the 50th day after the March 9th low and since the Value Line Composite was up more than 30% on that day (actually it was up 53%), it's official - we've got a cyclical bull market on our hands. My Zweig unweighted is up 55.9% a massive Bull Market !

However, this is where some of the confusion begins to come into play. You see, there are two common types of bull and bear markets - cyclical and secular. For experienced market players out there, please forgive me for insulting your intelligence. But, as I mentioned above, based on my conversations with investors over the past couple of weeks, this is an area that needs some clarification. My members seem to still be thinking another shoe is going to drop as do I but how will the markets handle the next event risk ?

Think of a secular market move as something that lasts for many years; usually more than ten. For example, the period from 1965(ish) through 1982 was termed a secular bear market. Then we saw a secular bull market from the fall of 1982 through March 2000. And from where we sit, we continue to be in a secular bear market. (The first tip on this score is the fact that as of the end of 2008, the ten-year return for the Lipper Large Cap Growth fund index was -34.27%.) Ouch as we all have known...unless you were a TTT member and avoided the pitfalls buying rallies and selling tops.

On the other hand, a cyclical market move - which we prefer to call mini bulls and mini bears - occurs WITHIN a secular move. These moves are much shorter in nature and if memory serves, usually last somewhere in the vicinity of 5 months to a year or so ( lets say March 1st to January 1st 2010). There are exceptions of course such as the 2003 - 2007 cyclical bull move; but for the most part, a mini move is something that can be valuable to more nimble investors but not so helpful to the buy-and-hold crowd. So we look for areas that can be bought and the next down leg after a powerful Christmas brings in inflation.

So, to clarify, we believe that what we're currently seeing is a mini bull market that exists within the secular bear market that began in 2000. We should see another 50-60% gain before early 2010. So BUY BUY BUY the corrections of 3-8% !!!!!! One may be starting now...

One of most important tricks to successful investing is to know and thoroughly understand your time-frames. For starters, you need to quantify what short, intermediate, and long-term mean to you and your portfolio. In addition, it is vital to recognize that the experts you trust may define the "short-term" completely differently than you do or even the next guy on TV. My Traders 1-5 day Main Fund 5-30 days and IRA 30-180 days is perfect in this new trading world.

For example, to a day-trader, the idea of a short-term position may be one that lasts only a few minutes or hours, while the intermediate-term might be defined as sometime before lunch. However, to the institutional investor, the short-term view may be something more along the lines of six months.

So before we go any further, we'd like to spell out our definitions of the time cycles investors deal with. To be sure, there will be disagreements on our definitions and we are not saying our way is the right way - but these are the terms and time-frames we use in our work.

Wiggles and Giggles Moves lasting from one day to a week

Short-Term: Up to three months

Intermediate-Term: Three months to six months

Long-Term: Six months to eighteen months
It is also important to understand that portfolio managers will often allocate portions of their portfolios to different time-frames (as well as different styles). For example, it might make some sense to allocate one half of a portfolio to the long-term cycle using growth stocks and then maybe 15% or so to a flexible style that plays the shorter-term moves. We're not saying this is the right thing to do, but it is a fairly common practice these days in the hedge fund community.

From my point of view ..I want NOTHING to do with selloffs..1% OK 2% ok any more and I am in cash with almost all positions ..as you see now I am about 30% Long 10% short and 60% cash .

Okay, now let's jump back out of the textbook and back into reality by trying to answer the question: Where are we now?

From a big-picture standpoint, as we've mentioned, we believe that we're in the midst of a multi-year, or secular, bear market that could go on for several years yet. However, the good news is that we saw a new mini bull market begin on March 10th, which is something that could see gains of 65% to 80% before it's done.

Thus, it is vital to recognize a couple of things. First, the current move is only one-third to maybe one-half over. And second, this is NOT the time to simply set-it-and-forget it. You absolutely, positively MUST be an active manager in the current environment.

From where we sit, the proper game plan is to get invested 25 % and ride the current mini bull with at least a portion of your portfolio. We obviously don't know how long the ride will last, but history suggests that there is more upside ahead over the next six months. Yet, we will also suggest that investors have a plan for dealing with the next mini bear, which will likely occur when the anticipated economic recovery runs its course.

We're not saying that you will need to become a day-trader - on the contrary. We're simply suggesting that over the next several years, you can't be a potted plant. No, you will want to have a strategy that allows you to use the mini bulls and mini bears to your advantage.

Turning to the shorter-term time horizon, it is obvious that we've got a strong uptrend on our hands at the moment. However, history tells us the odds favor a pullback after such a strong run and that any upcoming "wiggle" to the downside may not last long or be something to fear. As we've been saying, we will be looking to buy the dips - assuming we ever get one! And the action on late Friday tells me we are very close to a correction as the high beta RUT and QQQQ are about to rest and the banks will rest too.

Please enjoy the coming months with good tape reads and trying to get the most out of this BULL !

Remember ...we are looking at 1000 SPX to be visited as soon as July 4th and as late as Christmas as the A/D line will tell us along with our 14 proprietary indicators that have gotten so much ( up to 2400% gains since March 9th in futures and options !)
